As the student interns for the Arkansas Society of Radiologic Technologists, we had many opportunities throughout the year that we otherwise would not have had the privilege to do. As the student interns, we were able to attend every ArSRT chapter meeting and voice our opinion on several different important topics relating to students. We also were able to increase awareness of the ArSRT through social media.

We had a lot of fun putting up different pictures of the activities, such as the state conference and quiz bowl competition. In June of 2016, we had the privilege of attending the American Society of Radiologic Technologist national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada to be a part of the Student Leadership Development Program. Not only was our entire trip paid for, but we had a lot of opportunity to learn about what goes on behind the scenes of our profession as well as improve our leadership skills that could help us succeed in our profession as future radiologic technologists. We had the chance to meet students and other prominent people from all over the country through events such as the pin exchange. This event was one of the highlights of the trip because every state has their own pin they designed and you have the opportunity to collect them all, while interacting with great people. As students in the Leadership Development Program, we also had the opportunity to sit with our state delegates during the meeting while they voted on important decisions that affect the future of our profession. It was really neat to be a part of the entire process and see just how important it is.

As students we often do not always see how much work goes on behind the scenes of our profession but after attending the convention it makes us want to get involved even more because we understand just how important it really is. Overall, we really enjoyed being selected to attend the national convention and would encourage everyone to be involved in such a great organization.
